About 17 Days EBC Trek with Lobuche Peak Climbing

Lobuche East is one of the most famous, beautiful and sought-after peaks of the Himalayan region. Lobuche East Peak climbing is very suitable and hugely gratifying for climbing. Standing tall at a height of 6,145m, it is 26m higher than the Lobuche far east. From the peak, you can get a very beautiful view of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, AmaDablam and other peaks.

To reach your destination, you will first trek along the beautiful trail experiencing the beauty of nature and centuries-old traditions of different ethnicities. You will continue the journey from the Everest Base Camp from where you can have a splendid view of glaciers, and other surrounding mountains. The Lobuche East Peak climbing also provides a beautiful opportunity to explore the Everest region. It is a 17-day and 16-night trek.

The best time for ascending the peak is spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). The peak can also be climbed during winter but the weather will be harsher.

Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu (1300m/4264ft)

Our airport representative will be in Kathmandu international airport with your name card or our agency's name card. When confirmation of your arrival is done, you will drive from airport to Kathmandu hotel. After check in, you will be freshen up and go to visit agency office to collect flights tickets and other information. If you have missed to bring any trekking equipment then you can buy just next to hotel. You will have welcome dinner in the night and drop back to the hotel and overnight at Kathmandu hotel.

Today you will start your 17 days trek with a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (2,860 m) in the morning. If you are not taking guide from Kathmandu and like to take from Lukla airport, your guide will be there in airport with your name card. After 45 minutes, you will land in the runway. Then you will walk down to the Dudh Kosi river, where you will connect with the main path to Namche Bazaar. After moving all the way through the small area of Ghat (2550 m), you will soon arrive at our teahouse at Phakding.

You will start your trekking from Phakding and walk across the river to trek all the way through the area of Rhododendron. Then you will go crossways to the Dudh Kosi at Benkar and take pleasure from the scenes of snow-topped mountains Kusum Kanguru (6,369 m), Thamserku (6,623 m.) and so on. Along the way you will have your permits check at Jorsalle. Then trekking becomes fairly difficult and includes a perpendicular climb to Namche Bazaar. After crossing one of the suspension bridges above the river, you will ascend to Namche Bazaar. Overnight at hotel in Namche Bazaar.

Adaptation to harsh geography and high altitude is vital before further continuing the ascent to avoid altitude sickness and other unwelcomed illness. You’ll be taken for a one day hike through the beautiful villages of Khunde and Khumjung. After getting back at Everest view hotel, you can go have a look at the giant skull of so called mystical creature “Yeti”, in a monastery in the region. You can also savor a lovely pastry in the world’s highest bakery. On a fairly clear day, you would have breathtaking view on peaks such as Everest, Lhotse, AmaDablam among others. The view on mountains from Everest View Hotel, is also commendable. After a nourishing breakfast at hotel, you will endeavor an hour long climb to the Syangboche airstrip (3790m), from where you will steadily ascend towards Khundu. On your way up, you can see century’s old Chorten (stone Buddhist monuments).

Our guide will then take you down through the Khumjung community and move to the major path to Everest. You will walk further to Trashinga and then move down to go across the Dudh Koshi at Phunke Tenga(3,250 m.). In the daytime, it is a wide and vertical ascend through Fir, Black juniper, Pine, Rhododendron forest and reach Tengboche monastery. Here we can see gigantic peaks like AmaDablam, Kangtega and Mount Everest. You will stay at teahouse in Tengboche.

You will walk slightly down through the forest of Birch, Juniper, Fir and Rhododendron at Debuche. Here due to the elevation you will have to speed yourself all the way through the day. After passing the Imja Khola, the trail heads to Pangboche where you will be able see the beautiful mountain of Ama Dablam. Then your route is to climb all the way through unwrapped alpine hillsides prior to another crossing of the Imja Khola and reach Dingboche. And you will stay overnight at Dingboche teahouse lodge.

Its 800m climb from the Pheriche to Nagarjun peak 5000m. It has some good views of the mountains including Mt. Makalu 5th higest mountain in the world. This hike help a lot for acclimatization. There are chances to see Snow leopard on the hike to Peak. Hike to Najurjun peak take about 3-4 hour to get the top and come down about one and half hour. Enjoy the view from the top and descend down to Dingboche. You will spend night at Local lodge.

The trek to Lobuche is pleasant as you get closer and closer to the snow clad giants. It is a gradual climb. After a 45-60min hike you will reach Thukla. Here, you will make a stop for food and continue up to a flat area where several memorials dedicated to the climbers who died on Everest are erected. Then in another two hours, you will have climbed out of the valley and descended to the yak pastures at Lobuche. Tomorrow, you will hike to Everest Base Camp.

This day you will start trek from Lobuche(4910m) towards Gorakshep(5170m), where you can find the nearest teahouse from EBC. You will get to Gorakshep at about lunch time. After having lunch, our guide will lead you to Everest Base Camp (5364 m), then return to Gorakshep for staying overnight as there are no teahouses in Everest Base Camp.

You will notice when up in the base camp that the Everest is not completely visible. From Gorak Shep, you will walk down, up and up again to Kalapatthar. You will climb up to Kalapather either at sunrise or sunset. It will take 1 and half to 2 hours. All the effort is worth it as you will get the best view of Mount Everest, Nuptse and Changtse with a little of Lhotse from there. Then you will return to Gorakshep for food and descend to Lobuche. Overnight at Teahouse.

Today you will start hiking from Lobuche to Lobuche high camp via Lobuche East Base Camp. Compare to the trekking part climbing part will be little difficult as you will have to use crumpens and other gears. Our guide will fix tent in high camp on appropriate place and our porter cook will make food in tented accommodation.

Today is the main highlight of the whole trek. You will climb the summit from east today. On reaching the top of the peak, you will realize the best taste of victory. From the peak, you will have beautiful view on mountains covered with snow. After spending some time at the peak, you will return back to the base camp. Then you will trek down to Pheriche.

Just in case of bad weather or any health problem, you will use this day on the base camp or further down on the trail. Whenever you may need this buffer day. If you do not use your buffer day, you will finish one day earlier trekking. It can be useful in case of unstable weather condition for Lukla Kathmandu flight.

Return journey is much easier as the walk drops heights every few hours, you will walk downhill with few short ups to Pangboche and then to a bridge with two hours climb to Tengboche. Stop for lunch in Tengboche, then continue to Namche Bazzar. Over night at Namche Bazaar.

The trail steeply goes down through Rhododendron and Pine forest to Jorasalle. It will take about two hours and another 5-hour walk to Lukla via Monju, Benkar, Phakding, Ghat Khola, Chaurikharka, Chheplung and arrival in Lukla and overnight at guest house.

The day starts with early morning joyful flight from Lukla to Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel. During the day you will have rest after long journey in the Khumbu Himalaya and evening dinner with Nepali cultural show.
